When they couldn't find bath products suitable for their delicate aesthetics, Lisa Schuler Fine and Michael Fine decided to create them themselves and founded a company called Quiet Town.

Former fashion stylist Lisa said that the company name reflects the idea that your bathroom can be a refuge.

Michael said that the Quiet Town website was launched in their home in Brooklyn in April 2016, offering “Narlai” and “Orient” canvas shower curtains and “Ojai” and “Mendocino” bath blankets named after their favorite peaceful places. A photographer.

When designing their iconic "quiet" towel, they created a towel that can be used in the bathroom and on the beach.

"They are stone-washed, organic, and quite large bath towel-sized towels," Lisa said, noting that they hung the towels by adding embossing and practicality and adding a ring to give the towels the look of a retro hotel.

In the five years since Quiet Town was founded, they have added colorful Arco towels, shower hooks, more bath blankets and Sun Shower series. These products can be used alone or together with canvas curtains as curtain linings.

In collaboration with West Elm and other companies, Quiet Town recycles scraps of canvas to make pillows, carpets and clothes.

"We kind of think of ourselves as a bathroom lifestyle company, and our idea is to expand our lifestyle," Michael said.

In order to make their products as sustainable as possible, they moved cotton production from India to a small factory in North Carolina, where cotton is grown and processed. The Fines and his wife relocated to their weekend home in Matitak in March 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. They have lived there since then and have been to North Fork for many years.

"The field we are in is a great inspiration for us, and it has always been," Michael said.

The price of the sun shower curtain ranges from US$35 to US$200 for quilted canvas curtains. Quiet Town products are available at West Elm, Nordstrom and quiettownhome.com.
