"Dangerous man" escaped from the police before being caught and imprisoned

A violent burglar was sentenced to jail for assaulting an elderly man in his home.

Scott Mills of Grenfell Close used weapons including crowbars during a crime frenzy in Wigan.

Detectives said that when the 37-year-old man stole 800 pounds and tried to escape in two vehicles, he preyed on “vulnerable groups”.

Officials first realized that Mills had beaten an old man before he tried to incapacitate him with a tea towel when he stole 800 pounds in February.

The "dangerous man" entered the house through a window and then assaulted the victim while trying to steal two cars while escaping the scene.

A day later, Mills entered another property through the window.

He hit his next victim with a crowbar during the robbery and was later arrested by the police.

After being detained by the police, Mills was admitted to the hospital with injuries and managed to escape the police.

However, Mills was re-captured and charged after escaping.

He was sentenced to eight years and two months in prison after a hearing at Bolton Criminal Court on Friday, November 5.

Detective Ray Williams said: "Scott Mills is clearly a dangerous man; he not only robbed some vulnerable groups in the community for his own benefit, but also attacked them in their own homes- Where they should feel safe.

"GMP will do everything possible to bring such serious criminals to justice, and Mills' imprisonment will make our community a safer place to live."
