As an annual tradition since 2008, the importance of Global Handwashing Day will only become more important as we continue to understand the spread of pathogens and fight the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. Considering its impact, SC Johnson provides a series of tips to help employees improve the efficiency of handwashing.

Three simple techniques to promote and enhance hand washing in the workplace include:

1. Wash and dry properly—The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends washing with warm water and soap for at least 20 seconds. Drying your hands with a clean towel or disposable paper towel after each hand washing is important to prevent bacteria from adhering to wet hands. After drying, grab the bathroom door handle with a disposable paper towel to avoid spreading germs to clean hands.

2. Choose products wisely-choose soaps with mild preservatives to reduce the risk of skin irritation. Look for products that have been tested by dermatologists to prove that they are hypoallergenic and designed for people with sensitive skin. Hand sanitizers that contain skin moisturizers help prevent dry skin and leave skin feeling smooth after every use.

3. Don't forget to moisturize-in addition to using hand sanitizers containing skin conditioners, you can moisturize when cleaning, and apply moisturizing cream after washing your hands frequently. Choose lotions that are rich in skin conditioning formulas, which contain emollients, conditioners and moisturizers to help the skin retain moisture and elasticity, prevent cracking and improve skin feel.
