Jacksonville Jaguars running back James Robinson went down early in Sunday's game vs. the New York Jets.

Robinson was about to take a handoff from Trevor Lawrence with about 3 minutes to go in the first quarter when he fell down without contact. The Jaguars said he suffered an Achilles injury.

Robinson was helped off the field to the medical tent, then was carted to the locker room. He was ruled out for the rest of the game.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the injury as a torn Achilles. Darrell Bevell confirmed the Achilles tear after the game.

Robinson had a towel over his head as he was taken to the locker room.

Robinson has had a difficult year, being benched by former Jaguars coach Urban Meyer at times after fumbling. But the second-year running back has still been the top offensive player in Jacksonville, with nearly 1,000 total yards rushing and receiving and eight touchdowns.

Robinson had 10 yards on three carries before the injury.
