You'll be the man of the hour with these Fourth of July duds

Regardless of what you like to do on Fourth of July, chances are you still want to look good while you do it. Whether you’re looking to go full patriot and rock the flag in every way, shape and form or like to keep it subtle, and just want to add a hint of red, white and blue to your outfit for some fun American Flag clothing, or even if you are just looking for some general summer styles, there’s a Fourth of July outfit for every type of activity. The best of these outfits will use high quality materials and good design to compliment your body while allowing you to express your patriotism however you see fit. However, with so many companies running Fourth of July promotions and offering special designs, finding the right outfit and accessories for your upcoming celebration may be a challenge.

The last thing you want to do is invest in a piece of clothing that harms the environment of the country you’re trying to express pride in. There are varying degrees of sustainability when it comes to clothing, but you should keep your eyes out for clothes that are both long-lasting and sustainably manufactured. Because the Fourth of July only comes around once a year, many of the celebratory and novelty items that get sold each year are thrown away after a single use. While this may seem like the easiest way to dispose of something impractical, as opposed to keeping it in your closet all year long, it contributes to the more than 17.5 million tons of textile waste that end up in American landfills each year. Regardless of where your shirt is made, keep your eyes peeled for something that’s made from recycled materials and that will stay in style for many Fourth of July Celebrations to come.

Fourth of July outfits should be versatile in two major ways. Firstly, a Fourth of July outfit should be casual enough to fit into a picnic or backyard barbecue but not so casual that it stands out during dinner. Secondly, the best Fourth of July outfits are able to be worn outside of the holiday itself, which doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t get something with flags all over it. However, purchasing an outfit that can be worn, at least partially, during your normal day-to-day life allows you to maximize its practicality and value.

Even the most versatile outfits have limitations, and you should always consider what you’re going to be doing, and where, before purchasing a specialty outfit. If you’re going to an all-day outdoor party, you may want to bring an extra lawyer for later on when the sun goes down. Alternatively, if you’re going to a pool party, you’re going to want to get a bathing suit and some great accessories, such as a patriotic towel or American flag sunglasses. On the other hand, you may be going to a restaurant or attending a more upscale event, in which case you’re going to want to choose something a bit more subdued, such as a lapel pin or pair of socks with the flag.

If you’re looking for a low cost, high quality t-shirt to wear during your celebration, look no further. This tee comes in a variety of sizes, and has a neat chest pocket with the American flag printed on it. Because the flag is only printed on one side, you can wear a button down, such as a linen Guayabera, which will cover it up, making this a versatile shirt as well.

There’s a reason the fitted polo has been a staple of the men’s wardrobe since it was introduced in 1923 in France - it’s a classic look. Although it’s less well known than the infamous Polo Ralph Lauren brand, Boast has been making well designed polos that drape nicely over the male physique. Made from high quality Pima cotton, the 1983 classic is a bit roomier than the fitted 1973 polo, yet still has a nice taper and shoulder seam that accentuates the difference in width from your shoulders to your waist. Also, the logo is a Japanese Maple Leaf, not a Marijuana Leaf as it is commonly thought to be.

If you need something a bit more elevated that will help you stay cool and stylish, check out this blazer. Although it’s expensive, Bonobos has developed a cult-like following because of how comfortable its clothing is, and this blazer is no different. Plus, it comes in a ton of colors so you can choose something that closely matches the Fourth of July color palette whilst retaining broad wearability. This blazer has a roomy, but not baggy fit that can be worn with a clean t-shirt or oven the Boast 1983 Classic Polo.

Polo Sport Fleece Quarter Zip

This fleece is a great second layer for when it becomes chilly, plus it has the added benefit of having an American flag slapped right on the front of it. However, this fleece doesn’t scream Fourth of July specifically because of how integrated the flag is into the entire Polo Sport lineup. Few brands have become as synonymous with American style as Polo, and this is a versatile piece that provides lightweight warmth.

It doesn’t get more American than these 7-inch shorts from Chubbies. Although Chubbies originally made a name for themselves with extra-short shorts, these are a traditional length that will complement a variety of different leg shapes and sizes. Plus, they’re entirely cotton, which means they’re breathable and relatively quick drying. If you’re especially interested in clothing with the stars and stripes printed all over, you might want to check out the Chubbies stretch-denim overalls, which the company affectionately named the ‘Chubberalls.’ If you’re looking for something a bit more muted, check out these same shorts but in solid red, white or blue.

Even if you attend a pool party or go to the beach on the Fourth of July, chances are you won’t spend the entire day in the water, which is where a pair of hybrid swim trunks come in. These Fair Harbor shorts are ultra-quick drying and have a convenient liner that gently hugs your legs, which means you can wear them all day without having to worry about any uncomfortable rubbing or chaffing. Not only do they come in a variety of colors, including red, white and blue, they can be worn as normal athletic shorts when you aren’t at the beach or pool.

Bonobos Solid Stretch Lightweight Chino

These pants are stretchy and lightweight enough to carry you through an all-day or all-night long party comfortably. Chinos are one of the most versatile pairs of pants a man can own because they can be dressed up for work and down for lounging, and they fit right in. Bonobos offers a variety of colors and patterns to choose from so you can go more traditional and get something with the American colors or choose something more summery in general, such as seersucker.
