STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Most homeowners love the upscale home furnishings at Pottery Barn, but don’t love the posh retailer’s exorbitant prices. Imagine $339 for some sheets and $80 for a bath towel? That’s a lot. Even if they are woven from the world’s finest Belgian linen or crafted from organic long-staple Turkish Cotton.

But what many shoppers do not know is that the Williams-Sonoma subsidiary features a hidden space on its website where you can score high-quality furniture and home accessories at the brand’s deepest discounts. No need to wait for a sale or search for PB copycats -- Pottery Barn’s Open Box Deals offers shoppers a chance to score some of retailer’s best-selling bedding, furniture and décor at some unbelievable prices.

These “Open Box” deals are just that: Someone ordered the goods, opened the box and decided the look just didn’t fit their home. For some reason, the item couldn’t be returned to stock -- there could be light scratches, fabric pulls or wear; some furniture pieces may require tightening or leveling, the PB website explains -- but these items are being sold at a deep discount.

If you’re ok with the lack of original packaging and final sale status, you could end up with a pretty impressive haul.

Some pieces are marked 40% to 50% off, and shoppers are advised to act quickly because stock changes daily. Here’s a look at five of the section’s current deals. You can check out the entire lineup here.
