As we recover from Hurricane Ian, we have created this article with resources available for those affected by the impact. 

Florida Chief Financial Officer and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis announced the deployment of 11 urban search and rescue teams to Southwest Florida.

The Home Depot Foundation is committing up to $1 million to support immediate disaster relief and long-term recovery efforts in communities impacted by Hurricane Ian. The Foundation is providing immediate assistance to communities in need by distributing water and relief supplies, delivering meals, providing shelter and removing debris in the impacted areas. The Foundation is also shipping more than 1,800 disaster relief kits to Florida to be distributed by Convoy of Hope and other nonprofit partners. The kits, which include garbage bags, paper towels, cleaners, hand sanitizer, scour pads, gloves and N95 masks, will be distributed to people in need and those cleaning up. Lowe’s will donate $2 million to support relief efforts in Florida after Hurricane Ian left devastation. Lowe’s donation will support disaster relief partners and nonprofit Pro customers, helping organizations provide emergency shelter, food and rebuilding supplies to those affected by the storm. Lowe’s stores in the hardest-hit areas will host bucket brigade events to distribute free cleanup supplies to residents who are continuing recovery efforts. RED CROSS RESPONDING: With more than 500 trained American Red Cross staff on the ground—and many more en route from across the country—as well as truckloads of supplies positioned across Florida, the Red Cross is mobilizing a large-scale response to Hurricane Ian.

Fort Myers Beach urges residents not to rush back to the island before Saturday. Emergency responders will address critical assessments to ensure everyone’s safety upon returning.

Fort Myers Beach rescue crews have spread out on three boats to try and get people out of trapped homes. At this time, communication among crews is hard.

Cape Coral Police Department will resume emergency services as soon as the roads are cleared. Residents should not leave their shelter as major dangers could make rescue harder.

Estero Fire Rescue crews are clearing roadways and evacuating people who need help. Crews are asking for people to stay off the roadways while they ensure the roads are safe.

Fort Myers Fire Department has begun survey and recon operations to assess damage and needs within the City of Fort Myers. All residents are urged to follow the curfew in place, allowing crews to clear main thoroughfares and complete search & rescue operations.

A new number has been established for contacting the City of Sanibel. For reporting well-being checks or to volunteer resources, services, etc., please call (239) 603-7261. 

For vehicles that sustained damage from the storm, Tire Kingdom in Fort Myers will be offering Free Flat Repair and 25% off Wiper Blade purchases, as well as the following service checks free of charge through October 14th:

A food and water distribution site is open from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at the Charlotte Sports Park located at 2300 El Jobean Road. Officials said additional distribution sites will be opening soon.

Charlotte County residents can reach out to the CharCoCares text system for updates on local recovery events, area resources, and opportunities that will be available. The service is free. You can text “CharCoCares” to 888-777 to opt-in.

First responders and emergency management staff with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office are weathering the storm and protecting the community by providing secure shelters and distributing additional resources. Their call center 941-743-1320 will remain open for more information and storm-related concerns.

The North Port Police Department’s (NPPD) Special Response Team is evaluating the damage from Hurricane Ian.

If you are concerned about the well-being of a loved one, please call the North Port Police Department non-emergency line at 941-429-7300 and follow the menu prompt to Dispatch.

If you need help connecting with your loved ones, the American Red Cross can assist you. Call 1-800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) and provide as much detail as you can. You can also submit your information via forms (English and Spanish available) found online at COADFL.org.

The City of Marco Island‘s city phone line is down, but those who are worried about someone’s welfare they can call239-252-8444.The city asks people not to call 9-1-1 as this is an emergency number.

The non-emergency line for the City of Marco Island is (239) 389-5050.

The Marco Island Police Department will be open at 8:00 a.m.

Collier County Sheriff’s Office will first work on rescuing residents reporting life-threatening medical emergencies in deep water.

The North Port Police Department announced the opening of a voluntary evacuation center at Venice High School ( 1 Indian Ave.) by 7 p.m. The center is pet-friendly and transportation will be available at the following rally points:

San Pedro Catholic Church (14380 Tamiami Trail); buses will run at this location until 10 p.m. this evening

Publix (1251 Toledo Blade Blvd.) starting at 6 p.m. and buses will run all night as needed.

Foundation Church (13000 Tamiami Trail) starting at 6 p.m. and buses will run all night as needed.

American Red Cross sent hundreds of type O blood products to other red cross organizations across Florida for patients in areas impacted by the storm. For more information contact 1 800 RED CROSS – 1-800-733-2767.

Coastal Medical Urgent Care will be open for urgent care services – 8291 Dani Dr. 100, Fort Myers, FL 33966. Thu/Fri: 7a-5p, Sat/Sun: 8a-4p.

Several officials from the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) headquarters departed this morning to assist firefighters and paramedics in the path of Hurricane Ian.
