Andrea and Landon met at a local college bar in 2012. Six years later, on July 13, 2019, the couple was playing a casual game of Gin as the sun set at Andrea’s parents beach house when Landon popped the question.

The pandemic threw Andrea and Landon a curve ball during their wedding planning process, so they decided to have a small intimate wedding at a family home in Laguna Beach (which you can check out here on Brides!), followed by a larger celebration in San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico. “You can not go wrong with San Jose Del Cabo,” the couple says, “The area is so beautiful and the second you get off that plane it is time to relax and enjoy.”

They chose to host their October 9, 2021 wedding at The One & Only Palmilla because of the mix of modern and Old World architecture and the impeccable service. “The benefit was that our wedding planners really ended up knowing us so well and we got to really think about how we wanted the Mexico wedding to feel and look,” Andrea says. They relied on their planners at The Lynden Lane Co. to pull off their vision of a black tie wedding with a neutral color palette and textural decor details to highlight the spirit and ease of Mexico.

Andrea and Landon worked with Courtney at Cecile’s Paper Co to create their invitations and day-of paper, including welcome notes, signet, and menus. They even had custom fans created that also served as a map of the welcome party, which took place on the resort’s lawn.

“Our welcome party was a relaxed and beautiful Mexican market setting near the beach,” the couple says, “We ended the night with fireworks, which was an absolute highlight and a moment we will always remember.”

The couple’s rehearsal dinner featured a neutral color palette with lanterns and rattan lamps hanging from trees. Andrea wore a white David Koma dress featuring cutouts and a layered fringe hem, and Landon wore a neutral khaki suit.

Andrea got ready on her wedding day with her bridesmaids. The bride wore a white robe with lace detailing, while her bridesmaids wore matching robes in light blue. After enjoying some celebratory drinks and getting their hair and makeup done, Andrea’s mom helped her get into her Monique Lhuillier strapless gown with a stunning train. "I loved the floral appliqués, the exposed corset, and thought it was a beautiful and breezy elegance for Mexico," shares the bride.

She went for a natural beauty look on her wedding day and wore her hair in long waves. “I wanted something effortless and beachy,” she says. The finishing touches to Andrea’s bridal look included a matching Monique Lhuillier veil, Jimmy Choo shoes, and Funny Bunny nail polish by OPI.

Landon wore a Hugo Boss navy suit on the wedding day, and got ready with his seven groomsmen.

Andrea and Landon were already married by the time their big celebration in Mexico rolled around, so they decided to skip a proper first look. “We were able to enjoy each other and take pictures beforehand,” Andrea says.

The couple’s ceremony took place at the Mexican chapel at the resort. The chapel stairs were lined with lush florals leading up to an asymmetrical arch. “Gabrielle from La Musa de las Flores is a literal genius,” Andrea says, “She made our chapel ceremony florals look fresh and beautiful, but as if they had grown from the ground onto the walls naturally.” Guests were  greeted with a cream parasol and chilled white towel as they arrived and seated in modern white chairs.

The couple had live and recorded music for their ceremony. As Landon and the wedding party made their way down the aisle, “Your Song” by Elton John was played live. Andrea was accompanied by her dad as she walked down the aisle to a recorded version of Phil Phillips’ “Sea of Love.”

Andrea and Landon wrote and exchanged their own vows. This time around, the couple aimed to make their vows light and humorous.

After the ceremony, Andrea and Landon took some photos with their wedding party. Andrea had shared a fun color palette with her bridesmaids and asked them to choose their own dresses. “We wanted the bridesmaids to look like themselves, how they would dress if they were guests at the wedding,” Andrea says. The groomsmen matched Landon in navy suits. “We wanted their suits to serve as a backdrop to the bright bridesmaids so we went with a transitional deep navy,” the bride notes.

Andrea and Landon offered ranch water and spicy margarita as their signature cocktails at the poolside cocktail hour.

An escort card display was covered in a subtle lace fabric. The display was surrounded by lush florals and large pillar candles.

The couple’s reception took place at the resort’s Agua restaurant. “We loved the ambience that the Agua restaurant had to offer, but we wanted to transform it,” Andrea says. The couple’s wedding designers created a ceiling installation and panels to serve as a backdrop and cover the kitchen space. The tables were topped with floor length ivory linens and paired with white cushioned chairs with rattan detailing.

The tablescape included brown and white painted plates to play off the neutral centerpiece florals. Arrangements of mostly white florals with pops of blush and coffee colored blooms were placed in various white vases along the tables. Table numbers were covered in the textured lace fabric also seen on the escort card display. The bar kept with the trend and featured a floral pattern and was decorated with various pots and vases, candles, and white floral arrangements.

After Andrea and Landon made their grand entrance, they shared their first dance. “We had so much fun during our first dance to Aerosmith’s “Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,”” Andrea says, “All of our guests were singing along with us!” After, the bride and her father shared a dance to Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight,” and Landon danced with his mother to Aretha Franklin’s “Say a Little Prayer.” The band, from Aragon Artists, performed the entire evening in front of the ocean. The stage was set up with fringe chandeliers and tons of floor arrangements along the dance floor.

Andrea and Landon’s wedding cake featured three tiers. It was embellished with cascading edible white flowers and edible pearls.

Later at the reception, Andrea changed into a white Cult Gaia mini dress embellished with an ombré fringe. “We spontaneously ended up on stage with our parents for the last band song of the night which was the perfect way to end the weekend,” the couple says. Andrea and Landon spent their honeymoon in St. Barths and Anguilla. Their advice to couples planning their wedding is to “enjoy every moment, which sounds cliche, but it goes by too fast!”
