Joyce Oakeson Hatt 1953 ~ 2022 - Joyce Oakeson Hatt of South Jordan, UT passed away at the age of 87 on July 18, 2022, at home with her daughter by her side. Joyce was born on January 30,1935 in South Jordan, Utah to Dollie Martha Smith and Niels Wilhelm Oakeson. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1953. Where she was part of the Marching band as a baton twirler. She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she married her sweetheart Gary Hatt on June 12, 1959. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple January 19, 1963. They had 3 children. She worked for the Jordan School District for 42 years. She started her long career at West Jordan Junior High, then moved to Oquirrh Hills Middle School, where she worked the printing press. Then moved to South Jordan Elementary as a librarian, where she worked for over 30 years. Retiring in 2018 at the age of 83. Joyce loved to care and cook for her family. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren unconditionally. We all loved to get our homemade German chocolate cake on our birthday. Her passion was sewing baby blankets and hooded baby towels, she would spend hours in her sewing room and loved every minute of it. She is a proud member of the Widowed Ladies Lunch Bunch where many fond memories were made. Joyce is survived by her children, Gordon (Sandy) Hatt; Ronald (Shelli) Hatt of Riverton; Linda (Bill) Hart of Sandy. Grandchildren, Melissa and Cody Hatt, Brooke and Brody Hatt and Landon Hart. 8 great grandchildren, Whitley, Houston, Raylee, Baylee, Addison, Crystal, Henry, Vivian Preceded in death by her husband Gary, parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister and two grandchildren, Jailee and Tanner Hart. The family would like to thank Aspire Hospice Care, Janet Harris and the many CNA's who lovingly cared for her the last 2 months. Funeral services will be held Tuesday July 26, 2022 at 11:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel located on 1409 W Shields Lane. South Jordan Utah, with a viewing at the church from 10:00 - 10:45am prior to the services. There will also be a viewing on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Home located at 1007 S Jordan Pkwy South Jordan, Utah. Interment South Jordan Cemetery.
