This is the moment a cheeky ‘bed hog’ dad hurls around towels to claim as many loungers as possible in the latest summer sunbed war.

The T-shirt and shorts-clad holidaymaker is seen clutching a pile of towels which he throws onto a string of sunbeds near a swimming pool in Tenerife, Spain, as fellow hotel guests approach to get their places by the pool.

After claiming first dibs on three beds, he then turns to his left and throws another couple of towels on two more loungers.

It’s the latest example of so-called sunbed wars igniting in resorts as hotel guests battle to secure prime relaxation spots.

Earlier this year, TikTok user sassy.scentsxx was left stunned by the sight of guests crowding into a sunbed area at a resort in Fuerteventura.

A video showed families queueing outside a fence in the morning, before they swarmed the area when a hotel worker opens the gates.

Kids were seen dragging some of their family members to get to the beds, with the TikTok user who shared the video saying in the comments: ‘It’s mad, I’ve never seen anything like it!’

In another incident earlier this month, a TikTok user called Svetlana captured the moment tourists in Majorca sprinted to lay claim to a sunbed.

That video showed holidaymakers with towels and inflatables dashing for the swimming pool to reserve beds – with all of them taken in seconds.

One person wrote: ‘That’s really sad that people would go to that lengths just to get a chair at the pool.’

Another holidaymaker tried to shame sun bed hoggers by filming them laying out towels at a hotel first thing in the morning.

What water parks are there in the UK?

At some hotels, Britons have resorted to laying their towels on the ground at 5am – even though they can’t reserve the sunbeds until 9am – to ensure they are first in line.

But many hotels have ways of stamping out the practice, including chucking towels off the beds if no one uses them for a set amount of time.
